So I get home today and find a voice mail on the machine. It's an automated message from my Credit Card company saying they found some suspicious charges and to call back at the following number.
Well, I compare that number to the fraud # on the back of my credit card and it's different so I immediately think SCAM...but after a while I decide to call the # on the back of my card to verify and make sure.
When I get on the phone the automated messages says I've made like 4 or 5 charges today and wanted me to verify they were correct. Ummm, no, the only charge made today was my pregnant wife going to Dunkin (shakes fist in her direction). So I wait on the line for a rep.
I then tell him the situation and he asks if I have my card. Well, I just told you I called the number on the back of my card so what the f*ck do you think buddy? Yes I have my card.
He verifies the transactions that I didn't make and then says he thinks I need new cards. YOU THINK? So he sets me up for the new cards and convinces me to spend $7.95 on fraud protection (I smell a set up) since now I'm paranoid, but I can cancel it at any time. (I will be if they every charge me more than that 1st charge)
After all of that he forwards me to the Fraud Department (isn't that the # I called?!?) and I get a women who again goes through the transactions that I didn't make all from websites. She has a bunch today and one on the 29th and then she asks about one on the 28th.
She asks if I bought anything from Stub Hub (sells tickets for games like the Red Sox) and I immediately say, "Oh f*ck!" I then explain that I did not buy anything, but signed up in case I found any Playoff tickets for the Red Sox. (Thanks for that bright idea Jim!!! *jk*)
She says that is probably where my card # and info was hacked and told me to make sure nothing else was compromised. She takes off all the transactions and tells me it will take up to 5 business days for our new cards to come in.
F*ck, what am I going to do until then? I usually make all my charges on my credit card and then pay it off at the end of the month to get the points. The worst part is I have to make sure I don't have any bills charged to my old #.
So that's what I'll be doing tonight. Ugh...
Thank you credit card company for fixing the problem without too much hassle. F*ck you Stub Hub for making the next week or two hell for me. Now I'm off to their website to give them a piece of my mind...
PS: Don't use Stub Hub! (For those of you that didn't get that message from the rant above)
